I think the SNES version is better. I think most people choose the genesis version just because the characters look more like the movie characters but gameplay wise I think SNES version is better. Also, other than the characters looking better on genesis, I think the graphics look better on SNES

First time listening to the podcast in ehhhh, I can't remember. It's been a tough few years... But Switch 2 time!!!!

The people who aren't upset about the banning of TikTok don't care about freedom of speech and are passively supporting censorship.

Just for the record, that "no launch game of consequence" went on to sell 3.74 million copies. I swear, if you took Jim Sterling, the IGN Beyond Podcast, Colin Moriarty, etc. and had them focus on 4k, VR, 3rd party support, more launch titles, etc., they would have bankrupted Nintendo instead of making them the richest company in Japan today.

I can't believe Brian Altano thought it was bad for Nintendo that Mass Effect Andromeda wasn't going to Switch. Brian, you can keep that one. I'll enjoy Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I hope you "enjoyed one of the biggest 3rd party games of the year". HAHA Looking back at this IGN podcast features some of the most hilarious and poorly aged takes ever. Like you need to do a retrospective on this. This is comedy gold here.

After listening to Nicky Hill, Nicky Hill himself with 1000xResist overthinking. I realized I really missed that game since I finished it a few weeks ago. Listened to the soundtrack and teared up😢. Now I gotta get back to work with the extended Fixer's song stuck in my head

Another great episode! I had to laugh knowingly at the discussion over nervous peeing. Any time I’m about to fight a big boss, my bladder starts to go absolutely haywire. I’ll get the boss key to a dungeon and continue my merry way through the puzzles and the miniboss fights, but as soon as I get to that big locked door at the end of the dungeon, I have to make a pit stop. I’ve experienced this for 30+ years of gaming. And once I beat the boss, I’m sitting there going, “see, Bladder? It wasn’t *that* bad!” 😂 (Happy New Year!)

It's always funny to see such a difference in music familiarity. I'm always baffled by the licensed NES games you get instantly, meanwhile I instantly knew the Snowboard Kids, Kingdom Hearts and F-Zero GX ones. To answer the point that it doesn't sound like a song you'd race to, every character in the game has a song made just for their character gallery page. There are a whopping 41 songs made just for that.

Have you guys checked out Marvel Rivals? Also free to play with all heroes unlocked. I've been addicted ever since its release.

NOA is now censoring games on switch. Hyperdemension Rebirth trilogy was rejected by NOA even though it has a T rating by the ESRB, also Tokyo Clanpool was rejected by NOA even though it got a M rating by ESRB. Nintendo is walking back there previous claim of allowing games that passed a rating board review to release on Switch.

The legal discussion about the hacker and his grandma was rough to listen to - I'd suggest reading up on it some more and returning to the topic next week. The problem is it was unclear if you were saying Nintendo wants to punish this guy's family or if they want to use them to contact him. If it's the latter, that's still bad, but if it's the former that seems to be a pretty clear case of 'collective punishment'. If you google collective punishment, you'll see that it's not just frowned upon - it's literally illegal under the Geneva Convention. Given that, when you're saying 'I think it's bad but what are they supposed to do?' - that doesn't make you look great if they want to use collective punishment, because that would mean you're saying that Nintendo should be allowed to break the Geneva Convention if people pirate Animal Crossing. I assume you don't think that, but like I said, it wasn't clear from the actual discussion! (I had a similar thing in University btw when I got marked down in an essay because the reviewer said my essay technically condoned slavery - I can assure you that wasn't my intention! 😂)

Nice to hear you’re going to give AC: Pocket Camp Complete a try, RMC. 😊 I’ve been checking in every now and then on Pocket Camp since it launched, so I decided to get Pocket Camp Complete while it’s half off. I really feel like this should have been half the price ($10 regular and $5 launch sale), though Nintendo highly values their IPs, especially their big ones. I’m not sure it’s really worth it at $20. What I really like about Pocket Camp Complete is that you don't have to deal with all the microtransactions, you don't have to worry about missing out on items, as you can use complete tickets to get ones you've missed (I realized a long time ago that I wasn't going to get event item In AC: PC and was OK with that.), and how there will be new content until the end of Sept. 2025. One thing that feels a bit off as someone who has played Pocket Camp since it launched 7 years ago (I can't believe it has been that long), is that these areas were designed to have friends and other players randomly show up in their camper when you go to the these areas. Seeing an empty space were they used to be, makes the world feel a bit lonely. I know this game is supposed to be a version that is offline (minus connecting only to get custom pattern upload to New Horizons), but it still would be nice to visit your friend's camper, campsite, and cabin, as well and send them gifts. Just being able to see what other players have done with their camper, campsite, and cabin was one a my fav. parts of Pocket Camp. BTW, will you be sharing your Camper Card for the GN community to scan and will you be adding any of anyone who shares theirs? Too Bad these cards have to be rescanned if someone updates theirs.

Do you get remakes that have added modes? Like Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe having the added Magolor mode. I'm guessing Robobot would also have something like that for Susie. Which is probably why they skipped Triple Deluxe, because they think a Susie mode would be easier to market than a Taranza mode.

Pocket Camp sets the standard of what should happen to all free to play live service games. The other guys just aren't familiar with how they work. The standard practice is that they shut down and all the money you put in is gone, where at least this allows people to have access to the game.

Slight correction - M2 didn't develop this themselves, they took this from a homebrew developer who made it back in 2008 - a year after CE was released. M2 changed the graphics slightly and used a different mapper to give more audio channels. Not sure if the original dev received any remuneration for his work, I hope he did...

Like... I can imagine this being great if you have a budgie-obsessed grandparent in the advanced stages of Alzheimers, but that's a pretty niche market.

2 hours on Geoff's ad awards? It's just what games media has played. Balatro, like Vampire Survivors and Hades before it, is the main indie rogue-lite the media has played. I've only seen GoNintendo, Nextlander, Giant Bomb, MinnMax, and IGN mention 1000xRESIST. Nextlander and GoNintendo weren't part of the voting. Nextlander wants to change that, you should as well.
